I dont think someone making a cgi/live version of anime should be seen as bringing it into mainstream, otherwise we would be forgetting about the likes of Casshern (which I really liked). I dont think there is a problem with making it mainstream, there is a lot of demand for it, there's just not enough of it being released in the west ( not of the good stuff at least).
