Anime worth watching

Here are the top 10 Anime titles I have been watching over the past 2 months. I like a mix of different anime genres. So if you are looking for new things to watch, definitely check out this list. For the record, Cartoon Network’s version of anime is watered down! The only thing positive I have to say about them is that they are bringing over anime titles that otherwise most Americans would have never heard of. All of the links below use Bit Torrent and have been brought to you by BoxTorrents and Tokyo Toshokan.

1. Bleach
Bleach ScreenshotKurosaki Ichigo is a 15 year old boy that has an ability to see ghosts/spirits. Because of his ability, he is able to meet a female death god (a.k.a Shinigami) named Kuchiki Rukia. To save his family and friends from unwanted soul-eating spirits (Hollows), Rukia transfers her Shinigami powers to Ichigo. As Rukia takes on a human shell, together they solve mysteries involving spirits and hollows until from the spirit world comes 2 other shinigamis explaining that it is illegal to transfer Shinigami powers to humans and Rukia exceeded the time limit to stay in the human world. After they sentence her death for breaking the laws, Ichigo snaps and swears to everyone he will retrieve Rukia by breaking into the spirit world. (AnimeNewsNetwork)

Naruto ShippūdenNaruto Shippuuden is the continuation of the original animated TV series Naruto. The story revolves around an older and slightly more matured Uzumaki Naruto and his quest to save his friend Uchiha Sasuke from the grips of the snake-like Shinobi, Orochimaru. After 2 and a half years Naruto finally returns to his village of Konoha, and sets about putting his ambitions to work, though it will not be easy, as He has amassed a few (more dangerous) enemies, in the likes of the shinobi organization; Akatsuki. 4. Mahoromatic
MahoromaticMahoro was employed as a maid by Suguru Misato who was the junior high school student who was living alone, and she came to his house. Because she took care of him heartily every day, there was no break in his tension. Additionally, the classmate and teacher Shikijo are involved, too, and there is no end of troubles in their daily life. Moreover, Mahoro was the strongest android in Vesper which was the organization to oppose the invasion of the space alien to the earth. However, the longevity of Mahoro who had fought as a field type android hardly remained. (AnimeNFO)

5. Tonagura
TonaguraA childhood friend, Yuji, is coming home after a 10-year absence and Kazuki is eager to meet him again, hoping that he has become a handsome guy. In actuality, he’s become a very dirty pervert. In spite of her disappointment, he is making a move on her. Moreover, her older sister, Hatsune, tries to help their love along. 6. Green Green TV
Green Green TVKanenone Academy was an all-boys high school isolated from the world by mountains and hills. Yuusuke Takasaki, an average 11th grader, led a normal life in the academy until the academy announced an intent to become co-ed, and high-school girls were being transferred in for the summer semester. Among the girls is Midori Chitose, who claims to have a connection with Yuusuke from a past life.

7. School Days
School DaysSchool Days is an extremely popular anime based on a dating-sim game about a love triangle between Makoto, his girlfriend Kotonoha and his friend Sekai, which combines beautiful characters and an incredible complex (and fairly violent) story. The day before the last episode was to air, a girl killed her father with an axe, and fearing that the act might have been inspired by the show, replaced the last episode with classical music and images of a boat. 8. Ikkitousen
IkkitousenSeven schools are constantly ‘at war’ with each other, and the students within – both male and female – have become skilled fighters and constantly battle with rival schools. Their lives and fates are guided by strange jewels that contain the spirits and destinies of warriors from the Sangokushi period. One girl, Sonsaku Hakufu, has recently moved to Japan and is apparently destined to unite the schools as her counterpart united seven countries long ago. But, like all heroes, there is a darker side to her fate, and as always there is a constant struggle by those around her to break the chains of their own destinies and make their own lives. 9. Puni Puni Poemi
Puni Puni PoemiOrphaned when her parents are apparently killed by space aliens, hyperactive 10-year-old Poemi winds up living with the family of best friend Futaba, which consists of seven sisters of varying ages charged with defending the world – although, in a cruel irony, none of their special powers are offensive. When a crisis arises that threatens her entire city, she learns to gut a magical fish to trigger her transformation into the magical girl Puni Puni Poemi, who is charged with protecting the world and does so with great zealousness. Meanwhile Poemi passionately pursues her goal of ultimately becoming a voice actress. If you revel in comedy that takes no prisoners and promises to offend the weak-hearted, then this anime is your perfect match. (USAanime)

10. Boogiepop Phantom
Boogiepop PhantomA scream in the night, and in that instant the world changed … or at least, it appeared to. There have always been forces in the world and voices in the night: some friendly and other malevolent. Invisible until summoned; they slide through dimensions as people walk through doorways. They wait, and watch the doings of Man closely … each for their own reasons. Sometimes, they appear … and when they do, the world changes. Note: Not on my list of anime I have watched recently, but I saved the best for last. Boogiepop Phantom is my #1 favorite anime. Many that I have tried to show this series to don’t get it though. Its a classic.

  1. I’d like to recommend a series called ‘Denno Coil’. Don’t be put off by the synopsis on ANN etc. because this is a series that is very much under-rated. I haven’t seen anyone who doesn’t like it. It’s original and the graphics are (usually) fantastic. Lots of character development too.

  2. Bleach /and/ Naruto? What the hell, let’s throw in Shaman King and Dragonball Z in there. If you seen any one of those shows, you’ve seen them all. The only thing actually worth watching on here is Boogiepop Phantom. Maaaybe Mahoromatic, but only if you haven’t got anything else to watch.

Also, Ikkitousen is just a poor excuse for showing fanservice.
