Realistic Robotic Fish +

Tai-robot-kun, robotic red snapper

Engineers at the University of Kitakyushu have developed one of the most unique looking robots that i have seen in awhile. Well, unique as far as robots are concerned.

This red stapper is actually a robotic fish known as “Tai-robot-kun”. It weighs in at 15.4lbs, and features hand painted scales for realism. Tai-robot-kun mimics a real fish swimming silently in the water, and can go for as long as an hour with a full battery.

The engineers hope to attach cameras and sensors to the robot so that it will be able to explore the waterways without disturbing aquatic life. Check out the video below to see Tai-robot-kun in action.

  1. Thats amazing, it looks pretty damn realistic. I kinda want one but I bet itll cost me an arm or a leg to get one.

  2. Only in Japan. Maybe there will be fake sushi to go along with that.
