While here in the states, many of our big conventions are very localized to the big cities. However in Japan, you can find a big convention going on at almost any time of the year. One of the most recent conventions that took place was the winter edition of Wonder Festival. This festival has all the usual anime, doujinshi, and cosplayers. The real theme of Wonder Festival are the “garage kits,” or the user built figures and models. What’s unique about these figures and models is that they are made from scratch! Due to the resources available to most of these builders, they can only produce a limited quantity of figures. So if your figure or model is good enough, it can fetch a very nice price from collectors. This fact is what keeps people coming back to Wonder Festival year after year. Here are some of the cosplay pictures from Wonder Festival 2008. Images thanks to Akiba-Blog.
