Social networking sites are allowing people to meet each other and developing lasting friendships. But why should the value of these sites be limited to just connecting people? Pedi, a Japanese company, has launched a new social networking site aimed at connecting pets with people they are compatable with.
Pedi allows owners to create profiles for their pets which include favorite foods, tricks, pet photos, and blogs. You can also exchange messages with other pet owners to find out all sorts of new ideas.
One very useful feature, and first of its kind, is that Pedi allows owners to upload pedigree certificates. With those uploaded, the system can determine mother, father, and sibling connections among the pets. This information can be very important in determining what type of diseases pets will suffer from that are genetically passed down. Without Pedi‘s service, this sort of information is almost impossible to track down for most people.
I believe this idea could actually work here in the states. In fact, an English pet social networking site, YouPet.com has stepped been created for those wanting to find partners for their pets. This just shows that pets have become an important part of many lives. Via Yahoo.
