In what seems to be another decent attempt to get a few more Japanese females on board with the every-so-popular Nintendo DS, Nintendo is launching Pop Cutie!, a street fashion video game simulation. And for once, this game isn’t just limited to Japan. It will be out for America on Sept 30th.
The game is pretty simple. You are now the proud owner of your very own high style fashion boutique. It’s your duty to scour the virtual streets and find inspiration from the local fashion seen. You will be able to decorate your store, design the clothes and accessories, and advertising your clothing line. What makes it even cooler is that you can challenge rival boutiques in “Fashion Battles” to see who’s designs reign supreme.
Via Games.
I wonder if the game features Shibuya, Shinjuku and Harajuka as places to scour for fashion ideas (particularly Harajuku with it’s weird CosPlay groups).
We like reviewing Shibuya street fashion photos. We do it almost daily. The street photos give us an idea on what people are putting on in their everyday life, and everybody knows Shibuya styles are followed by many people in Asia and around the world. There are gaps between street and runway fashion, and between Asian and Western tastes. Those street fashion photos are making our reference when we are stocking for our clothes inventory.
I’ve heard that this game has been a flop. It hasn’t taken off in the way that Nintendo had hoped – so I understand.
