I’m not going to lie. I used to be one of those people that played Dance Dance Revolution when I was in high school. I loved it, and it burned calories like nothing else. I was pretty good. Handling 8 steps on Mainiac (Heavy for you new DDR fans).
However while DDR is still going strong in movie theaters and local cons across America, I don’t see it at the level of popularity here in the states that it used to have.
Konami must of realized that too. And to help reinvigorate the game, they have launced a new Dance Dance Revolution community/social network to help build up thier fans once again. I think this was long overdue. While communities are nothing new, I feel Konami should of had something like this in place a long time ago. But at least its live now. Check out the Official DDR Community. Via Kotaku.
I have a feeling this post is going to dig up some of my DDR related posts from the archives in the “You may also like” section. Just remember to look at the dates people!
Ah, good times! I used to play DDR..I still do, but on occasions. There’s no arcades that has a DDR machine, so I rely on StepMania and the home versions of DDR. I always wanted a metal pad, but I settled for the $100 foam pad from RedOctane.
I’m personally a huge DDR fan. I agree that it doesn’t have the popularity that it use to have, but there are still a fair bit in arcades. I’ve never been one to play in arcades though… feels weird. My friends and I player at home all the time though.
i tryed to get onto the dance game and couldnt …. was very dissapointed there!!!
